Building the RIS Children's Program System

Building the RIS Children's Program System

Case Study

Back in December 2025, I worked on a project for RIS (Reviving the Islamic Spirit) Children's Program, run by Mu'mini, a non profit doing incredible work in the community.

This program was part of the RIS Convention, with 850+ kids registered across 8 different sessions, and thousands of attendees at the event overall.

At that scale, the challenge wasn't just design — it was making sure everything actually worked in real world conditions. This wasn't just a website.

We built a full system to handle registrations and on-site operations:

  • Simple, structured registration for parents
  • QR based check-in for fast, seamless entry
  • A volunteer portal to track and manage students
  • Real-time visibility across sessions and capacity

The goal was to make everything as smooth as possible, for both families and volunteers managing the program.

You can view a quick demo of the system here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Wv1M0ZAHtoZPY3lF0fWOlZMFug-Vk1XV/view

Projects like this are a reminder that good design goes beyond visuals. It's about building systems people can rely on when it matters.
